Charles and Jo Frances Findlay writes:

The George Winter Band is the best dance band in Alabama!!! They are always well-organized, play beautifully a variety of dance selections which are timed perfectly to fit the timing of the dance, always have some mixers like "whistle dances", and several line dances that everyone can participate in. Many dance tunes can be danced in several different styles so those who don't know the steps of one particular dance can still follow the beat with another traditional dance. The band is well-directed, dressed very professionally, and all members are enthusiastic in their playing. They add a sense of class, fun, humor, and professionalism to each dance. We always enjoy dances played by the George Winter Band!!!

Dr. Andrew Rózsa writes:

George Winter is personally responsible for attracting us (my wife and me) to the pleasure and social rewards of ballroom dancing. Indirectly, he was also instrumental (forgive the pun!) for dozens of people coming to ballroom dance since we have become virtual crusaders for extolling the delights and the physical, and social values of ballroom dancing to anybody who cares to listen.

My wife and I felt an instant kinship with George, as soon as we got to know him, because both of us are musicians and have a need for a fairly strict adherence to proper rhythm and an understanding of the demands of social ballroom dancing. We have danced to dozens of bands, including a large Big Band orchestra in Atlanta, and we can say without hesitation that George Winter's Trios, Quartets, and Septets are the best we have heard. George has an understanding of a specific venue's needs and works well with dance clubs' leadership. He asks for feedback and accommodates to the demands of the situation with ease and flawless professionalism. As far as we are concerned, if a social ballroom dance club wants a top live band, a first choice should always be to consider hiring George Winter and his Band(s). It will always be my pleasure to recommend George Winter for a night of excellent ballroom dancing.

As always my wife and I enjoyed your array of music at the New Years Eve Ball. We both love to hear the sounds associated with a big brass band.

Charles & Norma Jean Shaw write:

Ballroom dancing is fun & stimulating only when the tempo is proper. George Winter is among the few who have learned the correct tempo for each of the ballroom dances. George also embellishes his music in such a way that further enhances the dancing. We greatly enjoy dancing to his music.

George Winter and his band have made a name for themselves in the ballroom dance circuit in Birmingham and throughout the state of Alabama.
I have enjoyed attending dances at which they perform for the nice variety of dance songs they play, not least of which is his repertoire of Glenn Miller tunes and the ever present “Miller Time.” George does a number of things I appreciate as a ballroom dancer, such as providing printouts of his set to dancers and keeping the numbers to an appropriate length and correct tempo. His priority is to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for the dancers who attend. Attending a George Winter Band dance you will enjoy their sound and definitely find dance numbers to your liking.

Richard Ousey writes:

George Winter can always be depended on to provide some of the best dance music in the Southeast. His group is adaptable to any type or beat and can change in size to accommodate whatever his clients request.

I have listened and danced to George for many years and being a trained ballroom dancer, I appreciate his music very much.

George is a very talented, outgoing and pleasing personality. He can make the dancers feel welcome and keep them on the floor. He always makes me feel special when I attend his events.

Hi George,

It was great seeing you NYE too. The location was beautiful, and Bernice & I really enjoyed the event. Your full orchestra was wonderful; great variety, sound, and we really like the vocalists. Live instruments definitely have it over the synthesized stuff. I also appreciated the "publicity" for Bronx Blues. We look forward to coming back next year.

George, I think I would be speaking for most of us in the Columbus area ,when I say that we(I) love your music selection , tempos, style, and overall presentation. Since you have lenghtened the songs a bit, they are just perfect. Not too long, but not too short , either. Your performance at the New Year's Eve dance was superb. Thanks for your concern for feedback. Us dancers are more than willing to give it.

John Chappelle writes:

The Mr. and Mrs. Club of Columbus has used the George Winter group on several occasions and have always been totally satisfied with the variety, tempo and quality of the music he has played. We will schedule his group again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent dance band. This is one of the best groups in the southeast.

I really like your web site. Like the George Winter Band, it's a real class act! The Museum members are still complimenting us on last year's St.
Valentines Day Dance. Play on!

This is a personal testimonial to provide you with my knowledge and perception of George Winter and his wonderful orchestra. I have known George for a number of years and find him to be a good friend, hard working, determined, and a conscientious individual that strongly wishes to succeed in the music field.  George and his orchestra are accomplished musicians and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of musical talent in all their endeavors showing exceptional dependability when working to please the dance community. George takes the initiative to make suggestions, interacts with the dancers, plays music that people want to hear with the proper tempo for ballroom dancing and follows through to a successful completion, with a sincere outlook toward meeting his goals. Along with good music, a Dance Program is provided so all dancers know what the next dance is going to be. I find that George and his orchestra ascribe to the highest level of ethical standards. Based on their opportunities and experience, they are dedicated to any chosen endeavor. I find that one of George's strongest traits is to follow-up on his Dance Calendar paying attention to details while focusing on the objective.   I have observed and followed the success of this Orchestra and find two great Core Values: Service & Commitment and the music gets better all the time. My best wishes for a successful future.

Tupelo Ballroom Dance Club hired The George Winter Band for a December monthly dance, which is always a special dance for our club. George worked into overtime to get the playlist just right for us with a great mix of smooth, rhythm and Holiday music. George does a great job on publicity which contributed to the highest dance attendance in our records. Needless to say, The George Winter Band is a great ingredient for a successful dance event.

Frith Lake Club writes:

The George Winter Band has played for a Christmas party for our club for 30 years and will continue to do so as long as George is willing to drive to Mississippi for the job. We love that you can REALLY dance to their music. They mix it up with a lot of "oldies but goodies", some just for fun and some country. There are usually several families with 3 generations at this dance and everybody has fun-from 95 down to 20. If you like to dance and have fun-George is your man!

Joyce and Joe Webb write:

George Winter and his band always play for the entertainment of the audience and play to please. The dancing numbers are strict tempo and one has no problem distinguishing what type dance he is playing. He is always ready to hear comment on his music and is a crowd pleaser.
